METSpouse Program Details

The Acacia Institute is honoured to partner with Canada Company and the Military Employment Transition program for Spouses (METSpouse) to prepare spouses to transition to leadership positions in the private sector. Registered METSpouse members are eligible for grants of $1,000 CAD to offset Acacia Institute enrollment fees.

The Acacia Institute offers programming for women at three levels of leadership development:

  • Aspiring High Potential
  • Emerging Management
  • Advancing Executive

 

Once enrolled at any level, participants have access to a leadership Instructor and a program Ambassador, and an open discussion forum for ongoing support among fellow Acacians. The discussion forum will be available to participants during and after graduation to provide a safe and open environment for exchanging ideas and obtaining guidance from their peers.

The Aspiring Leaders program was specifically developed for women who want to build their business savvy and start on the road to effective leadership. 

This 12 module program is delivered through self directed e-learning, webinars and open-forum calls. Participants must demonstrate competency at the close of each module in order to progress; when all 12 modules are complete, a Certificate of Achievement will be awarded.

There are four intakes of Aspiring Leaders per year:

  • January
  • April
  • July
  • October

 

The Emerging Leaders program is designed to boost the skill level of women who have been in the workforce for at least 5 years and have supervised or managed a small team. This program is also delivered primarily through self directed e-learning, webinars and open-forum calls; in addition, there is a live component to the program which provides an opportunity for participants to meet and strengthen their relationships with both their peers and their instructors. To qualify, participants must have completed the Aspiring Leaders program, or have demonstrated through our competency assessment that they possess these skills.

In April 2017, the Emerging Leaders program will be offered for the first time.

The Advancing Leaders program is designed for high performing women in senior or executive positions seeking new levels of success. This program is delivered during a five-day intensive retreat; participants will complete both pre and post course assignments. To qualify for this program, participants must have completed the Emerging Leaders program, or have demonstrated through our competency assessment that they possess these skills.

The Advancing Leaders program is scheduled for October 2016 in Niagara-on-the lake, Ontario.
