Emerging Management Leaders Program

This program is for women who have been in the workforce at least 5 years and/or have supervised or managed a small team. Prior to being enrolled in the program, potential participants will be required to complete a competency assessment to evaluate their skill levels. Based on the results of this assessment, Acacia will prescribe the appropriate program. [Note: Women who have already completed the Acacia Institute’s Aspiring Leaders program, and have responsibility for managing a small team, may advance to this level without completing further competency assessments.]

Like the Aspiring Leaders program, this next level of learning is delivered primarily on-line through self-directed e-learning and webinars. Participants in the Emerging Leaders program will also meet at live sessions. There will be interactive sessions where participants can exchange ideas and discuss challenges with their fellow  Acacians, as well as with their coach.

There are twelve modules in the Emerging Management Leaders Program covering communication, personal power, business fundamentals and of course leadership. The program builds on the learning from the Aspiring Leaders level. Prior to commencing each module, participants will complete a competency assessment; as each module is completed, an assessment will be required to establish the participant's new level of competency. A follow-up schedule will be developed to provide the participant with on-going mentoring support.

Bonnie Powers, Founder of the Acacia Institute, is the Ambassador for the Emerging Leaders Program.

Coaching & Mentoring

Coach, Mentor, Role Model, Supporter, Guide... do these words ring a bell? Being a coach involves being able to draw from several disciplines. Coaching is based on a partnership that involves giving both support and challenging opportunities to employees. Mentorship is a related skill that is often a part of coaching. It’s about being a guide, offering wisdom and advice when it is needed.

Dealing With Diversity

More than ever, a workplace is a diverse collection of individuals proud of who they are: their gender, their sexual orientation, their religion, their ethnic background, and all the other components that make an individual unique. One of the challenges for workplace leaders is how to help these diverse individuals work as a team. We all know what happens to organizations that don’t have effective teamwork: they fail. And, failing to embrace diversity can also have serious legal costs for corporations. This course will give you ways to celebrate diversity in the workplace while bringing individuals together.

Once enrolled, participants will have access to a forum for their specific cohort and all other Acacians who are sharing the leadership journey at the same level.
